Niki Manwani
Associate
Niki is a civil litigator whose practice focuses on professional liability, insurance coverage and complex civil disputes.
Prior to joining FCL LLP, Niki gained broad litigation experience across a wide range of commercial and other civil disputes. Her experience encompasses defending lawyers and managing general agents against liability claims, as well as acting in construction disputes, including construction negligence claims, real estate and mortgage litigation, oppression remedy claims and other corporate disputes, and product liability matters. Her work often involved navigating matters featuring allegations of civil fraud, breach of trust and misappropriation, including detailed funds tracing and urgent applications for extraordinary injunctive relief. Notably, Niki acted for the defendant on a contested motion and successfully set aside a firm Mareva order. Her insurance experience also includes coverage issues arising under commercial general liability policies and complex coverage issues arising in class actions.
Niki has appeared before courts and tribunals across Ontario, including the Licence Appeal Tribunal, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and its Commercial List, the Divisional Court, and the Ontario Court of Appeal. She graduated cum laude from the University of Ottawa’s Common Law Program.
Niki is a highly analytical litigator who brings a methodical and pragmatic approach to litigation. Her ability to identify key details and draw connections across complex factual records has been a significant factor in her success, both in and out of the courtroom. A tenacious advocate, Niki shapes her approach around the needs of the case and the interests of her clients, whether that calls for vigorous pursuit or timely resolution.
